Award winning musicians
pianist Chi-Chen Wu and violinist Gregory Maytan met in the summer of 2016 at the Grumo Festival in Italy where they performed eight concerts together across the country in cities including Milano and Cavalese. Being inspired by each other’s musicianship and passion for chamber music, Wu and Maytan founded the Rainier Duo and set a goal for their first project: to perform and record the complete cycle of Beethoven’s sonatas for piano and violin. The two musicians aim to bring a new voice to these ten compositions through acquaintance of the literature which had served as inspirational sources for Beethoven’s work. In the 2016-17 season Rainier Duo toured in Colorado, Wyoming, and Michigan. They are represented by Great Lakes Performing Artist Associates.
